GEORGE FLOYD'S MURDER

George Floyd’s Murder

People celebrated in the streets after the conviction of Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd. When interviewed by a television reporter, one of the celebrants, a white male, said that he wanted to know what he could do about racism. He had googled the question earlier in the day, apparently to no avail.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Martin Luther King Jr.

Obviously the key to doing something about racism is to judge each individual “by the content of their character.” But how do you do that? How do you know what constitutes character, what makes good or bad character, what virtues make for good character, what are virtues, what is the one virtue that’s the source of all virtues?
