CENTRAL PLANNERS AND WHAT’S GOOD FOR YOU

Socialist central planners begrudgingly accept the existence of a free market. They really don’t like it because when you buy something, you’re acting in your self-interest, and the company that sells it to you is acting in their self-interest. The central planner thinks you don’t know how to spend your money wisely; he thinks he knows better than you what’s good for you.

The central planer knows what your values should be. Will he try to reason with you, use logic, use facts? No, he will use the coercive power of the government to force you to save for your old age whether you want to or not, whether you agree or disagree on the investments he makes on your behalf. The central planner will force you to pay for children’s education whether you have kids or not. He will force you to be charitable whether you agree with the cause or not. He will force you to pay for health care that gets more and more costly and delivers less and less – Ontario has what is commonly known as hallway medicine. He will force you to pay for a drug plan, a dental plan, childcare and on and on – because you couldn’t possibly know what’s good for you.
